Dalendrien is a single storey house which has been the family’s Scottish home for almost 50 years.
Our self-catering house, sleeping 6, is stunningly positioned on its own peninsula on the shoreline of Loch Linnhe, a long sea inlet running from the Isle of Mull inland to the slopes of Ben Nevis, and sits on the quiet north shore of the loch just off the scenic road which runs from Fort William to the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula.
It nestles in three acres of grounds with private shoreline and a rather old and unusable slipway, some 25 miles from Fort William and 8 miles north of the Corran Ferry at Ardgour.
The house has deceptively spacious rooms which have magnificent views looking over the loch to the mountains of Glencoe and Ben Nevis itself. As a long established and much loved home, we are sure you will love it as much we do. We adore the area and are still discovering new things to do and see!
There is a no smoking and no pets policy.
Due to the location a car is considered essential to be able to explore the surrounding area and get the most from your stay. Parking is available beside the house, off the lochside road.
Bookings are normally taken on a Saturday to Saturday basis.
The sitting room/conservatory
The comfortably furnished sitting room has an open fire, satellite cable television, bluetooth radio and dvd player.
Here, you will also find a selection of books, games, a dvd and music library, some toys and children’s library to keep the youngsters amused when the weather is not to your liking.
The conservatory, leading on to decking and outside garden, is a firm favourite with guests who often comment on the views and wildlife seen from its large windows.
The well equipped kitchen, with a superb view of Ben Nevis out of its window, has everything you should need for your stay, including:
- Oven and Hob
- Microwave, Toaster and Coffee Machine
- Fridge Freezer
- Washing machine
- Tumble Dryer
The dining area has seating for 6 adults and a high chair and/or booster seat can be provided on request.
Has an area for outdoor clothing, shoe rack and drying lines for wet clothing.
The sleeping accommodation consists of two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom with wash basin.
The family bathroom has a bath, walk-in shower and wc, with private access from the master bedroom and additional access from the hall, the second bathroom is a wetroom shower with basin and wc.
On request a cot and extra folding bed are available for a child.
We can offer the following mobility aids: an adjustable shower chair and/or a toilet frame.
We provide all bedding and bathroom towels.
Outside there is a small formal garden with chair and tables and garden seating.
The rocky beach near the house is perfect for a beach barbecue (not supplied) or fire and chairs for comfy sitting on the beach are available.
Guests can also fish off the shoreline.
The wildlife is in abundance.
The large grass area leading to the loch shore, from the house, regularly has deer grazing in the evening. A pair of golden eagles nest in the glen behind the house and fly overhead while hunting for food.
Red squirrel, pine marten, seals and otters have all been seen and during the summer months swallows return to nest and rear their young, several pairs have their permanent nests around the house. And we must not forget the local sheep who also have their favourite spots!
